An application for an allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung must be submitted so that DIBt can process the matter. Any amendments, additions or extensions of an existing approval also require an application to be submitted (Section 18 (2), (4) and Section 21 (1) MBO).

An application for an abZ does not require a specific form. In addition to the name and address of the applicant, the application should contain a description of the item for which approval is sought, its intended use and the type of application being made (a new approval, or an amendment/addition/extension of an existing approval).
