Allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassungen are granted for such construction products and types of construction within the scope of application of the building laws of the Laender for which generally acknowledged rules of technology in particular DIN standards do not exist or which differ significantly from these.

Allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassungen are issued for all Laender by Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik. They represent an assessment of use or application, of the subject of approval in view of the requirements.

The areas of approval range from construction products and types of construction, such as solid construction and steel construction over masonry and timber construction to the areas of thermal insulation products, glass, scaffolds, bearings, ventilation systems, insulation materials, sealant, renewal of pipes, reaction to fire and resistance to fire and to tanks and expansion joints.
