DIN, the German Institute for Standardization, is the national standardization organization that develops national standards in cooperation with representatives from industry, science, public authorities and associations. On behalf of the Federal Republic of Germany, DIN is also active in the European and international standardization.
Around 70 standards committees are available for the standardization work. The Building and Civil Engineering Standards Committee (NA 005) with its numerous departments is responsible for construction. It is responsible for both, the national standardization and the European standardization by CEN.
