Joint sealing tapes for windows and facade areas
Joint sealing tape is used to seal joints between windows and facades or facade joints for protection against wind and driving rain. It is usually compressible to compensate for temperature-induced facade joint movements.
Regulatory framework
Construction products and construction techniques for sealing of facades against wind and driving rain do not require regulatory verification of fitness for use or application, which means that no approvals or construction technique permits are required, cf. MVV TB, Section D 2.2.1.6.
However, as a European Technical Assessment Body, DIBt can issue European Technical Assessments (ETAs) for these products upon request.
European Technical Assessment (ETA)
To start the ETA procedure, please submit the form below. We will then check if the prerequisites for issuing an ETA are met, i.e., in particular, if the product is not fully covered by an existing harmonised standard. If the prerequisites are met, we will check whether a European Assessment Document (EAD) covering the requested assessment scope already exists or still needs to be developed. If an EAD needs to be developed or amended, a complete technical file needs to be established before the procedure can begin.
