Headed bolts, headed studs
Headed bolts are made of round steel or reinforcing steel bars. The bars are headed at one end. A thread is rolled on or cut at the other end of the bar. The end can also be prepared for welding on of, e.g., an anchor plate. Headed fasteners are embedded in concrete and anchored in the concrete through form-fitting of the bolt heads. Structural steel members or precast reinforced concrete members can be connected to the threads protruding from the concrete. Additional structural steel members can be welded to the anchor plates, which are usually embedded in the concrete flush with the surface.
Regulatory framework
DIBt grants national technical approvals (abZ) for headed bolts and studs. European Technical Assessments (ETAs) can also be issued.
Furthermore, DIBt grants general construction technique permits (aBG) for construction techniques comprising headed bolts and studs for which there are no conclusive technical rules.

European Technical Assessment (ETA)
To start the ETA procedure, please submit the form below. We will then check if the prerequisites for issuing an ETA are met, i.e., in particular, if the product is not fully covered by an existing harmonised standard. If the prerequisites are met, we will check whether a European Assessment Document (EAD) covering the requested assessment scope already exists or still needs to be developed. If an EAD needs to be developed or amended, a complete technical file needs to be established before the procedure can begin.
