Scaffold couplers
Scaffold couplers in accordance with EN 74-1 or EN 74-2 are the most common form of detachable connectors in scaffolding. They usually provide an interference fit between scaffold tubes. Couplers are usually used in working and service scaffolds in accordance with DIN EN 12811‑1 in conjunction with the Application guideline for working scaffolds in accordance with DIN EN 12811-1 (Anwendungsrichtlinie für Arbeitsgerüste nach DIN EN 12811-1) and DIN 4420-1:2004‑03 as well as in falsework in accordance with DIN EN 12812 in consideration of the Application guideline for falsework in accordance with DIN EN 12812 (Anwendungsrichtlinie für Traggerüste nach DIN EN 12812) or in other temporary works equipment.
Regulatory framework
Scaffold couplers are classified as temporary works equipment and therefore do not fall under the Construction Products Regulation (Regulation (EU) No 305/2011).
DIBt grants national technical approvals (abZ) for the corresponding construction products and/or general construction technique permits (aBG) for cases of application which deviate significantly from the applicable Technical Building Rules, cf. in particular MVV TB, Sections A 1.2.8 and C 2.16.

- Information regarding impact on regulatory concerns
- in particular structural integrity, fire protection, health and environment protection, sound insulation as well as thermal performance
- Explanation of need for an abZ/aBG
