Waterproofing of penetrations

Where necessary, penetrations are subsequently sealed against water ingress, e.g. penetrations for roof installations or for cable or pipe penetrations in basement walls; subsequent sealing of formwork clamping points, floor drains or shower trays or bathtubs.

Regulatory framework

No regulatory requirements exist for the sealing of penetrations against water ingress, i.e. no regulatory verification of the fitness for use or application is required, c.f. MVV TB, no. D 2.2.2.12.

The legislator assumes that even in the event of damage, the regulatory protection goals (structural safety) are not affected because the damaged areas can be identified and repaired.

As a European Technical Assessment Body, DIBt can, however, issue European Technical Assessments (ETAs) for these products upon request.

European Technical Assessment (ETA)

To start the ETA procedure, please submit the form below. We will then check if the prerequisites for issuing an ETA are met, i.e., in particular, if the product is not fully covered by an existing harmonised standard. If the prerequisites are met, we will check whether a European Assessment Document (EAD) covering the requested assessment scope already exists or still needs to be developed. If an EAD needs to be developed or amended, a complete technical file needs to be established before the procedure can begin.
