Systems for restoring leak tightness in SFH facilities
Systems for restoring the leak tightness of sealing systems made of concrete in storage, filling and handling facilities for substances hazardous to water (SFH facilities) are used for the repair of damage/leaks in the sealing systems, especially for re-profiling in joint areas or as a concrete replacement for the repair of isolated damaged spots or for closing/filling cracks. Reaction resin mortars and concretes, polymer cement mortars and concretes, and injection systems with the associated crack filling compounds/materials made of synthetic resins (e.g. epoxy resins, polyurethane resins, acrylate gel) are used for this. Special requirements apply to the use of such systems in SFH facilities.
Regulatory framework
Systems for restoring leak tightness in SFH facilities for substances hazardous to water fall under the Ordinance on the determination of the suitability of construction products and construction techniques under water law by means of verifications in accordance with the Building Codes of the federal states (WasBauPVO) and under the Ordinance on facilities for handling substances hazardous to water (AwSV).
DIBt grants national technical approvals and/or general construction technique permits for construction products and techniques for the restoration of the impermeability to liquids of sealing systems made of concrete, confirming that both the construction and the water law requirements have been met. The products and construction techniques are thus deemed to be suitable in accordance with Section 63 of the Water Resources Act (WHG).
